Carnival UK turns waste cooking oil green
Carnival UK and Bio Driven are working with Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust (HIWWT) to take the waste cooking oil used on cruise ships and turn it into biodiesel and sustainable power generation.
Within the first three months of implementation enough waste cooking oil was collected through Veolia's Southampton depot, whose involvement and commitment has been instrumental, to have sent a family car 19 times around the world.
Carnival Uk donates the oil for Bio diesel production generating financial support for Kent & Hampshire wild life trust which has been match funded by Bio Driven helping to reduce environmentally harmful carbon emissions and directly contributing to south coast marine wildlife conservation
The marine conservation and development programme includes Seasearch, two training days for volunteer divers and 4 dives (boat charter) to monitor under water wildlife, and shoresearch, two training days for volunteer researchers and 4 beach surveys of marine wildlife.
