Leading to a greener London

This week, the Mayor of London launched his environment programme, Leading to a greener London.

The Mayor wants London to be recognised as a world leader in improving the environment locally and globally, by tackling climate change, reducing pollution, developing a low carbon economy, consuming fewer resources and using resources more effectively.

In order to deliver that vision and to ensure London achieves the highest environmental standards and quality of life, the programme is focusing on three key challenges: improving quality of life for Londoners, mitigating climate change and adapting London to the impact of irreversible climate change. Tackling these challenges will be at the heart of all the Mayor's work and will ensure that London develops sustainably, balancing environmental issues with social and economic ones to deliver improvements to the capital and for Londoners.
