Being responsible can be award winning

1. City of London Corporation - Sustainable City Awards

The Sustainable City Awards recognise, reward and promote innovation and leadership in sustainability, with one award specifically for sustainable procurement. The awards operate at both a national and London-wide level and have been designed to allow all organisations, regardless of size, to compete on an equal basis.

The Sustainable City Awards are open for entries from 7 September to 1 November 2010.

Category winners and highly commended entries will be awarded with specially commissioned trophies and all shortlisted entries will receive a framed certificate. One overall winner will be chosen to receive the Sustainable City Trophy and an award will be made for excellence in Sustainable Leadership.

"Despite the immensity of the environmental challenge, the truth is, almost everything that needs doing is already being done, somewhere. If 'best practice' today became the norm tomorrow, we'd be half way there already. The Sustainable City Awards proves not only that solutions exist, but that where they are adopted, companies invariably flourish as a result." Zac Goldsmith, February 2009.

2. Greater London Authority (GLA) Responsible Procurement Awards

The Greater London Authority (GLA) group's Responsible Procurement Programme delivers value for money and significant social and environmental benefits to London. The Responsible Procurement Awards recognise the contributions that both suppliers to the GLA group and their own staff make in using procurement to deliver value for London.

If you are a supplier of goods, works or services to the GLA group and have delivered something special as a result of implementing the Mayor's responsible procurement agenda, the GLA would like to receive a nomination from you.

There will be seven separate awards for different aspects of Responsible Procurement, such as ethical sourcing and community benefits. Nominations will be open from 6 September to 1 October 2010.
