Positive results from City of London's "Meet the Buyer" Event in March 2010

A report evaluating the City of London's "Meet the Buyer" event held on 9th March 2010 (in association with Action Sustainability), has found that positive results have been achieved. Of the 150 companies in attendance, the majority (97%) were London-based, in the boroughs of Camden, Hackney, Islington, Lambeth, Southwark, The City, Tower Hamlets and Westminster. Based on the opinions of 54 (36%) of the attending suppliers and 14 (55%) buyers, the report found that £122,096 of business was generated, with a predicted £963,500 of further business to be won as a result of meetings held at the event.

Furthermore, at the end of the event, 95% of suppliers rated their chances of doing business with the buyers they met as satisfactory or better. Six months later, this remained reassuringly high with 72% still rating their chances as satisfactory or better.  Nearly 1 in 3 suppliers confirmed they had already done business as a result of the event. Finally, most of the buyers and suppliers attending confirmed they would attend a similar event again and feedback included:

"Very good event, it would be good to hold this event every 6 months" Calton Brown Washroom

"We met another supplier, who we swapped details with and we have since become one of their clients" David Miller Architects

"Very useful event, very professional and all round a good idea" Poole Waite and Co

"Excellent opportunity to develop new accounts" E.W Marshall

Overall the results from the City of London event are encouraging and the feedback received in terms of business wins and predictions suggests that given the opportunity, the gap city fringe SMEs are able to supply the needs of city based buyers. For more information about the event and the businesses that attended, please click here.
