A treeless genius way to reduce global deforestation

Karmic Promotional Products, have developed the first everTreeless Genius Pads.   Genius Pads areperfect for interactive events, workshops, training and teaching, as well asuse by architects, designers and children.

Arash & Kelly owners and founders of Karmic, launchedthe original Genius Pad in 2004 in response to their concerns about globaldeforestation, began by re-planting 10 trees for every tree they use.   According to the UN Food and AgricultureOrganization (FAO) around 13 million hectares of forests were converted toother uses or lost through natural causes globally each year between 2000 and2010.   Kelly, the co-founder of Karmicsaid "There is simply too much waste. Roughly 130 million tons of wastecould be utilised. This translates into roughly 80 million tons of paper pulp, which is about 20% of the world's paper consumption."

The Treeless Genius Pad will be made from unbleached wastepulp, a bi-product of residues from crops in Thailand.   Much of the residues from crops arecurrently either burned or land filled. Karmic have done extensiveinvestigations in to the use of pulp bi-product.   Arash, co-founder of Karmic said "Usingthis not only reduces the demand on forests, but also offers sustainablelivelihoods giving farmers a second income".   Karmic has set out to combat deforestationwhich degrades the environment and reduces biodiversity. "Biodiversitycurrently impacts millions of people globally who are forest-dependent."

With a view to involving their customers, the Treeless 500Club has been set-up.   Until September, thousands are expected to apply for the limited Treeless 500 Club membership. A£20 investment will give each member two Treeless Genius Pads including theirname listed on the back of the pads. The Treeless 500 Club has been set up to involve like-minded people toinvest in an alternative resource.

Karmic invest their profits in to projects such as WorldwideImpact and Paradise Farm in Sri Lanka. These projects include combating deforestation through replanting trees, promoting sustainable organic practices and carbon offsetting projects.

Producing the Treeless Genius Pad and Treeless 500 Club isKarmic's attempt to involve and engage people in global activities, supportingsustainability and the environment.
