Over the past few months, the Supply Cross River programme has fully funded a number of Advanced Sustainable Procurement courses exclusively for procurement professionals in the 'Cross River' boroughs of City of London, Camden, Islington, Lambeth, Southwark and Westminster.
Helping buyers to understand the principles and framework of BS8903, the new sustainable procurement standard, the training focused on planning 'next steps' towards sustainable procurement. One delegate said: 'It gave me an in depth knowledge on sustainable procurement, I now have a few tools on how to plan or strategically plan for our sustainable procurement'.
The session also looked at the benefits of embedding sustainability into procurement processes and how to actually implement sustainable procurement strategies in each organisation. Another delegate thought that 'It has identified the need for greater buy in from senior management. Very useful resource information for implementing a sustainable strategy into our procurement process'.
