Muslim community publishes a new guide on how to be greener

A green guide to help Muslim households reduce climate change is now available. The 20-page booklet explains the impact of climate change, using Islamic references to engage organisations and communities and inspire behaviour change.

The Green Guide is a simple, practical handbook that looks at different aspects of the Muslim household and proposes a series of small changes that can have a big impact on the environment. There are sections about domestic food, water, laundry, heating, electricity, transport and recycling, with each section headed with an appropriate quotation from a new translation of the holy Qur'an to reinforce spiritual support for these neighbourly ideas. At the end of the booklet there is a 'How green is my family?' checklist that gives households something positive to aim towards.

The guide is published jointly by Lifemakers UK and the Islamic Foundation for Ecology and Environmental Sciences (IFEES), with Muslim Hands, a Nottingham-based charity, meeting production costs.

For more information about the guide please contact Raja on 07956 983 609 or Shaid on 0787 969 4540 or e-mail IFEES at info@ifees.org.uk
