Accelerating the SME economic engine: through transparent, simple and strategic procurement

Article taken from Supplier Diversity Europe

The UK government has published a review into public sector procurement and accepted all of its recommendations.

In the UK Government's 2008 Budget, Anne Glover was asked to lead a committee to examine what the UK Government could do to make it easier for small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) to supply to the public sector.

A period of consultation followed. The resultant report "Accelerating the SME economic engine: through transparent, simple and strategic procurement" has now been published.

The report makes twelve recommendations, including around improving access to opportunities at a 1st and 2nd tier level and reducing the burden of bidding for contracts. The UK government has accepted all of these.
