City firms save thousands of pounds and tonnes of CO2 emissions with small London-based company.

Griingo is a small London-based company providing a chauffeured car service that has been operating 'green' executive cars since 2006. The fleet runs both on biodiesel and hybrid technology. Clients includes City-based financial institution Unicredit and global consulting firm Booz & Co as well as BBC, MTV, Skype, Kallo foods, Diageo, NEC and others.

Booz & Co have been using Griingo for 3 years. They first became aware of the firm through a cold-call, kept Griingo's details on files and called them back when a new provider was being sought. Siobhan Connolly of Booz & Co says; "We are extremely pleased with the levels of service and attention to detail that we have received. Most important are the savings that we have made to date from a cost perspective and the reductions in our carbon footprint."

Booz & Co estimate that they save over 6 tonnes of CO2 emissions a year by using Griingo cars rather than black cabs and that a saving of over £4,000 is made in fares.

Unicredit operate in 22 counties and their London City office has been using Griingo since 2006. Unicredit's Fiona McLean comments "Griingo car have become a trusted partner for my division at Unicredit. We always use Griingo for our airport transport and pick-ups. The ease of booking via email is invaluable. Always on time, eco-friendly and cost savings are just some of the benefits we have derived from this relationship."

By using Griingo for journeys between Heathrow and the City, Unicredit save 6,200g of CO2 over using a black cab, 5,190g over using a conventionally fuelled chauffeur car and they pay a lower fare than they would for either.

Biodiesel cars are preferred for longer distance journeys, such as between Heathrow and the City. The biodiesel that Griingo uses is made vegetable oil obtained from the catering trade and which has been collected and recycled in the UK. The fact that it emits no 'new carbon' into the atmosphere makes it virtually carbon neutral. This fuel also smells much more pleasant than burning petrol.

Hybrid vehicles are generally preferred by clients for short distances as, on London's congested streets, cars run at lower speeds and so the cars can be run on battery power, reducing emissions by 70%.

All CO2 that is produced by Griingo is offset by Carbonica, so clients can be sure their journeys are carbon neutral.
