Content
Sustainable procurement principles - the morning is dedicated to learning more about sustainability and how it applies to supply chain strategy. It covers definitions of sustainability, the recommendations of the Task Force (including the Flexible Framework), the business case for sustainable procurement, supply chain risks and opportunities, prioritisation, supplier engagement and measuring success.
Sustainable procurement practice - the afternoon looks at how sustainable procurement is incorporated at a practical level into the procurement cycle. This includes defining the need, tendering and evaluations, contracting, contract management and finance and measurement.
Attendees leave the course with the capability and confidence to understand and exploit the benefits of procuring effectively and responsibly.Key objectives of the one day training session are:
To provide delegates tasked with addressing the impact of their supply chain on the environment and society with the knowledge and confidence to make a start.
To develop a common level of awareness of current sustainability thinking and sustainable procurement practice.
To raise awareness of the sustainable procurement best practice model, the Flexible Framework.
To help participating delegates understand how to embed sustainability into their procurement policies and procedures.
To provide participants with the tools and techniques of defining key sustainability impacts and identifying sustainability risks and opportunities.
To introduce the concept of prioritisation methodology as recommended by the Sustainable Procurement Task Force and adopted by many organisations to focus on limited resources to deliver maximum sustainability benefit.
To help procurement professionals understand the benefits of incorporating sustainability into the procurement process, linking this in to the use of whole life costing techniques.
To provide attendees with an understanding of the role of supplier engagement and supply chain mapping in the delivery of sustainable procurement.The overarching aim of the session is to help build the capability of those who are directly involved in or influence procurement decisions to embed sustainability into the procurement process.

Cost
The cost for this course is £350 plus vat per delegate. The cost includes course materials, venue, meals and refreshments. All trainees receive telephone support for 12 months after the course and free invitations to Action Sustainability networking events and seminars.
