Business Development Consultant – Supply Chain Sustainability School Hybrid Working

The award-winning Supply Chain Sustainability School ( drives real, sustainable change with its clients in the construction sector.

We are looking for a Business Development Consultant to help us grow the School further and engage more construction companies to become more sustainable.

The candidate will be required to identify new sales opportunities and have a passion for sustainability and making a difference.

Do you have experience of working in a sales role and have an interest or knowledge of sustainability, membership recruitment and/or the construction sector?

Do you enjoy working and engaging with people to effect change? Are you a self-starter who doesn’t mind ‘rolling their sleeves up’? If the answer is yes, then we would be pleased to hear from you.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

The Business Development Consultant will be expected:

  • To identify and close sales/project opportunities for the Supply Chain Sustainability School (specifically bring new Partners onboard). To see our current list of Partners, click here.
  • To Identify and engage with new leads
  • To deliver sales presentations to a director-level audience.
  • To work with the marketing team to create sales collateral and build campaigns to generate new leads.
  • To input into the design and development of strategic business development strategies.
  • To keep up to date on the latest sustainability news/products and thinking in the construction sector.
  • To grow your sustainability knowledge and experience through the projects you undertake alongside suitable and relevant training.

Skills, Knowledge & Experience: 

Applicants should demonstrate the following skills and experience:

  • Significant sales experience is highly desired with a demonstrable track record of success in a consultative sales environment.
  • An interest in or knowledge of both the construction sector and sustainability is desirable.
  • A professional, team/ relationship-oriented approach to winning business and developing successful, long-term client relationships and engagements.
  • Active, hands-on approach to identifying new clients.
  • Willingness to learn and develop technical skills and knowledge in line with the broad portfolio of work and a genuine interest and passion for sustainability.
  • Evidence of establishing and maintaining a strong network of clients.

Reporting to: Paul Parkinson will provide formal line management.

Terms and Conditions:

  • Salary: £36,000 – £42,000 dependent on experience (OTE £50,000 uncapped)
  • Holidays: 25 days plus 8 statutory holidays plus 1 day for birthday
  • Other benefits: 8% contribution to pension
  • Location: We are a flexible employer and provide office amenities in Old Street, London
