UK China social enterprise partnership

Source: UK and China Social Enterprise website

Northampton Business School has been working with the Capital University of Economics and Business in Beijing to look at the socio-economic impacts of social enterprises.

The University of Northampton's Northampton Business School received funding from the British Council-run Prime Minister's Initiative (PMI2) programme to develop a collaborative partnership with the Capital University of Economics and Business in Beijing (CUEB) to examine social enterprise as an economic and employment model in both the UK and China and to develop areas of best practice resulting from this Anglo- Chinese dialogue.

To help raise awareness of the activities undertaken as part of their British Council funded project, Northampton Business School and CUEB have organised a conference workshop to review some of the work done so far, and to discuss some of their work, sharing it with interested parties to help get crucial feedback.

The day will help in the project's aims by assisting with the development of:
  • New, shared and disseminated knowledge in the areas of social enterprise development and management
  • New accredited programmes, at under- and postgraduate levels in Social Enterprise

There will be the chance to look at the University's work on assessing social enterprise impacts and opportunities within the health sector, as well as wider social enterprise developments. It will also give the opportunity to compare Chinese approaches to social enterprise.
