Cathryn has worked with organisations and industries to drive cultural change and advance diversity, equity, inclusion and social justice for over 15 years. Her background includes working in the construction and built environment sector and within government regulators, including a building regulator in Western Australia. Cathryn is also a former in-house legal counsel, a lawyer and court advocate by professional training and a skilled facilitator and presenter.
Cathryn’s work focuses on both organisational diversity and inclusion, and the sector-wide behavioural and cultural change required to positively impact the outcomes of the built environment sector and the communities it serves. She is passionate about bringing people together to drive that change around fairness, equity and inclusion and supporting sustainable and responsible business practices.
Cathryn’s breadth of experience gives her invaluable cross-sector and organisational insight on a range of FIR challenges and the levers and cultural changes required to address those challenges. She enjoys dealing with a variety of businesses across the sector – at all stages of their FIR journey – to embed the principles of fairness, inclusion and respect throughout their organisations and supply chains.
Cathryn has always loved interacting with people of different backgrounds and cultures and gaining what she considers to be incredible perspectives that come from learning from others’ lived experiences. This interest led Cathryn to first complete a humanities degree in Asian studies and language (Japanese), political science and international relations, work with adults and children with disabilities, teach English internationally, host inter-cultural exchanges and travel extensively before pursuing a deeper understanding of civil rights and equal opportunity under the law and justice system. As our diversity and inclusion specialist, she combines her background, passions and expertise to address workplace challenges and help build inclusive and respectful environments where everyone can thrive.
Cathryn still loves to travel and experience new cultures, languages and landscapes. When not running the FIR Programme, you’ll find her enjoying the great outdoors with her family, planning their next adventure together or engaging in her other passions of dance, yoga and art.
Alice Crowsley joined Action Sustainability in May 2023 as a Project Coordinator for the construction market and wellbeing topic within the award-winning Supply Chain Sustainability School. She is responsible for organising and marketing training events in these areas as well as supporting other projects within the School.

Andrew has worked with the Directors of Action Sustainability since 1999 when he first worked with Ian and Shaun on a supply chain project at Heathrow Airport. Since then, Andrew worked with Ian building and running a thriving events management business in his home city of Newcastle. When that business was sold to Umi, Andrew managed their operations and events team before becoming their Business Development Director.
Andrew exited Umi in 2017 and ran his own consultancy and B2B events business whilst supporting the Supply Chain Sustainability School’s work in Scotland and the growing collaboration with National Highways. Andrew joined the School as a permanent staff member in December 2023 and now leads our work with HS2 and National Highways, as well as continuing to develop the School’s presence and influence in Scotland.
Andrew speaks Italian and French, and enjoys foreign travel, whether for business or pleasure. He likes to visit Italy whenever possible to indulge his passion for Italian food (and wine). His main hobby is road cycling – which he still occasionally finds time for between his professional and family lives.
Annabel joined Action Sustainability as a Client Relationship Executive in June 2023. She supports Sustainability Tool clients with the implementation and rollout of their accounts, and helps them with supply chain engagement and management.
Annabel is early in her career and is excited to learn from the rest of her team and grow her professional skillset. She has a BSc (Hons) in Environmental Science and is dedicated to sustainability. She has a background in customer service, which, combined with her education in sustainability, provides a solid foundation to develop in her role.
In her spare time, she enjoys spending time by the sea, watching amateur comedy acts at a local comedy club, and indoor rock climbing/bouldering.
With nearly 20 years’ experience in the events sector, Antoinette’s previous clients cover the public and private sectors, in which she worked closely to help deliver CSR targets, including Stansted and London City Airports. She has had the pleasure of working with the Scottish Government to develop Scotland House in London, aimed at Scottish companies to take advantage of business opportunities.
Antoinette also enjoyed the challenge of project managing the “Greater London Joint Initiative” programme, a joint venture between CITB and the London Enterprise panel (LEP) for a £2 million fund to provide training, support and work placements in the construction sector around London.
Antoinette has a passion for music, keeping hold of her dancing roots. When she hears a salsa beat she can’t help herself but cha, cha, cha her way across the room. She loves to travel the world with her family, exploring new colours, smells and creating memories.
