Amtico Improves Transparency Through Updated Sustainability Report

Amtico, part of the Mannington Company, are a designer and manufacturer of luxury vinyl tiles (LVT). Based in Coventry, they have been designing and manufacturing unique LVT since the early 1960s.

Their tiles have warranties of 20 years+ and are designed for life. They have four core collections – Signature, Spacia, Form and Click Smart and a range of wood, stone and abstract designs to choose from. Amtico Bio is their first bio-attributed LVT flooring, made with sustainable PVC from biomass, a renewable raw material which saves more than 90% of carbon emissions compared to the manufacture of standards PVC.

Amtico’s sustainability strategy, Responsible Foundations was developed with support from Action Sustainability and launched in 2022.

Following this, Amtico sought Action Sustainability’s expertise and technical knowledge again to draft their 2023 and 2024 annual reports.

The following stages were carried out for both annual reports, to ensure consistency and direct comparison. 

Desktop research: Action Sustainability conducted a detailed review of annual reports from three stakeholder groups: clients, competitors, and best in practice organisations. The findings were summarised in a benchmarking report to inform next steps and ensure direct comparison. 

 Stakeholder workshops: A collaborative workshop with key sustainability leads reviewed the previous annual report page by page. The session identified what to improve, update, remove or retain to strengthen content and reflect progress. 

Stakeholder engagement: Over 10 hours of interviews were carried out with colleagues and external partners. Insights from these conversations were developed into case studies, showcasing achievements and lessons learned. 

Data validation and analysis: Current data was collated alongside previous years’ results to track progress. A data sample was verified for supporting evidence, ensuring accuracy and alignment with GRI (Global Reporting Initiative) standards. 

Close-out and next steps: A final meeting with the sustainability working group reviewed outcomes, confirmed key learnings and agreed on next steps for continuous improvement. 

Supporting Amtico on their annual sustainability report for two consecutive years has been an incredibly rewarding experience. It’s been a privilege to help communicate their sustainability journey with clarity and impact—while also building on each year’s work to drive continuous improvement.

The result: two transparent, accessible, and technically robust reports that maintain consistency, yet each offers its own distinct look and feel.
