Our latest work experience participant, Kitha, spent a week with us, contributing to a variety of projects and gaining valuable insights into the work we do. Below, she share her reflections on the experience, including what she learned, the challenges they faced, and the activities that stood out the most. What was your experience like at Action Sustainability? The experience was so incredibly rewarding. The people that I worked with at the office were welcoming towards me, my 1-week work experience at Action Sustainability has been insightful and interesting. During my experience, I was able to have the chance to do and learn a lot from the team that works at the company which enlightened my knowledge of sustainability as well as understanding how sustainable practices are used. What did you learn from your time with us? It was very interesting to learn about the business functions and learn from the team as I found a lot of the knowledge that was shared was something that I never knew before. It was great to listen and be taught and worked on several tasks during my time including social media posts, design & branding, sustainability research, copywriting and blog writing, intro to consultancy, Canva tasks, partner Analytic, and also some self-learning like learning about carbon calculator, retrofit & future workforce and Project management. When I was asked to do different tasks after being taught but still was unsure how to go about it. Everyone was kind and patient to guide me through it until I was able to complete that task. What activities did your enjoy the most? I took a great interest in Intro to Consultancy where I found doing a case study very interesting. During the consultation meeting on the webinar, Menti-meter was used icebreaker for a question-and-answer session during a webinar meeting. I also enjoyed the Canva task, how to convert a document into a format of a Canva. What was the most challenging part of the week? Being forgetful after being taught and given the explanation on how to do a task and keep asking questions and for help, made me feel like I was taking up time, but I feel that I overcame that in this week with my confidence increasing. We are thrilled to have had the opportunity to work with Kitha. Her dedication, enthusiasm, and willingness to learn made her a valuable part of the team, and we are confident that the skills she has gained will be invaluable as she continues her career journey. At Action Sustainability, we are proud to offer meaningful work experience opportunities and look forward to supporting more individuals in the future as they develop their expertise in sustainability.
